Editorial
Editorial Policy
How we research, write, review, and update the guides, examples, and ATS education pages on Advoke CV — including what we do when we are not certain of a claim, and how we use (and do not use) AI tools.
1. Our editorial principles
Advoke CV publishes career guidance for job seekers. We take that responsibility seriously. The principles below guide every article we publish:
- Answer a specific question. Every article exists to help a reader with a real task, not to target a keyword.
- Be useful, not just long. Length is a byproduct of usefulness, not the goal. We would rather publish a 700-word guide that solves a problem than a 3,000-word page that repeats itself.
- Be honest about certainty. Where advice is contested, we say so. Where advice depends on jurisdiction, role, or employer, we flag that. Where a claim is uncertain, we say "likely" or "often" rather than overstate it.
- Do not fabricate. No invented statistics, no fake expert quotes, no testimonials from people who do not exist, no research studies we cannot link to.
- Update when it matters. If a fact changes materially, the article is updated and the update is dated.
2. Who writes and reviews
Advoke CV's editorial content is written and reviewed by a small team that works on this project. We do not invent named authors with professional credentials we do not have. Where an article is bylined to a specific person, that person wrote or substantially edited the article and can be reached at editorial@advoke-cv.pages.dev.
We do not claim that our articles have been reviewed by recruiters, HR professionals, universities, or professional bodies unless a specific reviewer is named and has genuinely reviewed the content.
3. Our content process
Each substantive article goes through the following stages:
- Brief. Define the reader question and the scope. What will the article answer, and what will it deliberately not cover?
- Research. Read the relevant sources — official documentation, government guidance, ATS vendor pages, or professional standards — before drafting.
- Drafting. Write the article with the reader's task in mind. Include concrete examples where they clarify the point.
- Review. Check every factual claim, verify links, and confirm the article is not overstating what is known.
- Publishing. Add the article to the sitemap, link it internally from related pages, and record the publication date.
- Updating. Revisit periodically. If a material fact has changed, update the article and note the update date.
4. AI usage policy
We use AI tools, where they help, as drafting and editing assistance — for example, to rephrase a paragraph, check grammar, or generate alternative phrasings for a headline. We do not:
- Publish AI-generated articles without substantive human review and editing.
- Use AI to invent facts, sources, or expert quotes.
- Mass-produce pages to target keywords.
- Use AI to generate fictional people who appear to be real reviewers, authors, or testimonials.
Every article on Advoke CV has a named editorial owner in our internal records and has been read and edited by a human before publication. If we cannot stand behind the article as our own writing, we do not publish it.
5. Sources and citation
Where an article makes a factual claim that is not common knowledge, we link to or name the source. Examples include:
- Government labour departments and employment agencies.
- Official documentation from applicant tracking system vendors.
- Standards organisations that publish resume or accessibility guidance.
- Academic or professional publications where relevant.
Where an article reflects general practice or editorial judgment rather than a specific published source, we say so plainly. We do not invent a citation to make an article look more authoritative.
6. Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and we say so. See our corrections policy for how errors are reported, reviewed, and corrected.
7. Advertising and editorial independence
Advertising on Advoke CV is clearly distinguishable from editorial content. We do not accept payment in exchange for featuring a product, template, or service in a guide or example. Advertising partners have no influence over what we write, which templates we recommend, or how we describe ATS behavior.
If a future article is sponsored, it will be clearly labelled as sponsored at the top of the article, and the sponsor will have no editorial control over the substance of the content beyond factual product details.
