What makes this teacher resume work
1. The teaching is described with scale
"Four Grade 10–11 classes, averaging 28 students per class (~112 students total)" gives a reader an immediate sense of the workload and the level being taught. Without this, "taught English" tells the reader almost nothing — some teachers see 30 students a week, some see 300.
2. The curriculum redesign bullet has a real outcome
"Internal assessment averages rose from 62% to 71% over two academic years" is a measurable outcome that shows the curriculum work had an effect. Crucially, the resume doesn't claim all the improvement is due to Sana's curriculum alone — it says "as Grade 10 subject lead, redesigned the writing curriculum" and separately notes "averages rose". That's honest. Correlations are described as correlations, not causation.
3. Pedagogy is described, not just duties
"Introduced a structured peer-review process for essay writing; students now complete three peer reviews per term" describes a specific pedagogical choice and its integration into the classroom. This is much stronger than "used formative assessment methods" — a phrase that sounds impressive but describes nothing.
4. Mentoring is included as a leadership signal
Mentoring early-career teachers is evidence of leadership within the department. For Sana's target of a senior teaching or department-head role, this is directly relevant. Including it here — as a bullet in her current role — is more powerful than claiming "leadership skills" in a skills list.
5. Education section is complete but not over-weighted
Three qualifications are listed: an MA, a PGCE, and a BA. All three are legitimately relevant for a secondary teaching role — the PGCE particularly, since teaching qualifications are often expected for secondary positions. Listing them with clear dates and institutions keeps the section scannable.
6. Certifications are separated from Education
A Cambridge diploma and safeguarding training are short credentials, not formal degrees. Placing them in a separate Certifications section keeps Education focused on the significant qualifications and makes the compliance-relevant items (safeguarding) easy to find.
